Find us on facebook and stay in the loop with exclusive photos and video posts you wont find anywhere else. If you dig what we’re doing then help support independent film and spread the word. Thanks for everyone’s continued support of this ongoing project.
There is a certain excitement felt when venturing down unknown roads for the first time. In the forefront, there is always the anticipation of finding your own slice of paradise and reveling in your own quick witted decision to take the 2nd left after the 3rd dirt road leading straight to perfection. In reality, the ever persistent thought of failure lurks over the shoulders while you can only hope that today is the day. Well, this day was exactly that, The day.

Our art director Ryan Kleiner is working on the Way of the Ocean: Australia book which will be available in the near future. The hard cover book will consist of the photography and art behind the movie. Stay tuned . . .

We are happy to announce that WAY OF THE OCEAN will be a part of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. The first screening will be at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art on Saturday January 29th at 1pm. There will be a second screening at the Metro 4 Theaters on Monday the 31st at 1pm.
About the Film:
Way of the Ocean: Australia, explores the connection between man and sea through a visual feast of poetic motion. The world’s largest island provides a breathtaking backdrop to some of the best surfing found on the planet. Since it was first introduced in the early 1900′s, surfing in Australia has become a mainstream pursuit and for this country devoted to the ocean lifestyle, it is more than a way of life. From the tropical paradise of the Great Barrier Reef down through the frigid Southern Ocean and up to the arid desert of the west, the film captures an intimate portrait of this unique land. Vibrant super 16mm and High Definition cameras bring to life the stunning visuals, set to a heart thumping original score. Welcome to the odyssey of your life. Welcome to Australia.

As we near the end of 2010 we also get one step close to the official release of WAY OF THE OCEAN. It’s been a long year with lots of time spent on the beach, in the water and most recently more than enough time at the computer bringing this thing to life. While we put the finishing touches on this labor of love, we’d like to wish everyone happy holidays and thank you for your continued support of this independent film. We will be announcing the first big screen premiere directly after the new year and we are very, very excited to share our story with you. Cheers!

A couple moments frozen in time from 3 different corners of Australia. Also, a new video will posted this week of some power surfing on an empty pumping left point. Stay tuned . . .

Some waves are perfect, others are flawed and this wave is somewhere in between. No takers this day so Asher Pacey jumped at the chance for a few empty caves.

We have once again seen the seasons change and with Autumn now in full swing, early morning sessions mean crisp offshore wind and clear skies. As the days get shorter, the dawn sessions become more frequent as do the deep low pressure systems that come swirling through the the southern ocean and roaring 40′s. Winter swells are only a short time away and as we cling to the last few drops of warm water and enjoy the beauty of Autumn, have a look at why this is such a special time of year.

Australia is swept by a number of major ocean currents. The East Australian Current (EAC) runs south along the east coast. The Indonesian Flowthrough flows westward from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean. This in turn provides a mass of warm water to the Leeuwin current off Western Australia as it sweeps south along the west coast and east along the south coast. South of this, the Antarctic Circumpolar Current flows past South Australia from west to east on its continuous clockwise journey around the globe.
The water is still warm on the East Coast and there has been plenty of swell around the last few weeks. When an east swell combines with sunshine and Easter holidays, the crowds that follow can be a bit much to handle. Luckily there was plenty of surf and smiles going around. Here’s a look at what went down last weekend.

Back from our journey with plenty of eye candy and surf soaked wisdom to share. Bare with us as we get sorted and back in to the swing of internet and electricity. Until tomorrow, here’s a taste . . .

We came across a rippable right-hander where Jordy Smith and Asher Pacey traded shacks and ramps in the blistering sun.
